The workings of a Muse
Over the past five years I've explored the work of a figure model...of a muse.
What it means to inspire an artist to draw, to paint, to sculpt, to practice their art after a long day.
How to play with shapes and light interacting with my form.
How to capture movement in stillness.
How to tell my story without uttering a word.
To allow them to observe through me, sometimes seeing me in the process and always seeing themselves.
To take up space as a full body, a brown body, a hairy body in mostly white crowds.
To take up space as a woman.
To share the dance of my folds, the texture of my skin.
To have myself reflected back at me over and over again.
